Lists of things that make me feel healthy

Something I have noticed about myself is that my happiness does not rely on what others bring me but what I bring myself.  Have you ever thought about that?  There are so many things that help make you happy with your life.  It's not just about spoiling yourself rotten with presents and treats.  Oh, if it were that simple :)

A few months ago, my sister realized that she had a negative reaction to gluten.   She doesn't have celiac's disease, but she had been feeling ill every night for a few months before she realized it was all the gluten she had been eating.  She felt sick to her stomach every night, she was grumpy and complaining every night. And let’s be real here, it's hard to feel pretty when you feel like crap every day. So she told my mom about her suspicions. We went to numerous doctors about this, and they all said oh, it’s not celiac. Finally one doctor just said, cut gluten out of her diet, and see if that works. She did that for a while until thanksgiving came along, and oh she went crazy! She ate everything, and anything she could with gluten in it. And lets’ just say, it didn't react well with her body.

Do you find yourself in stupid cycles like that, seeking out comfort in things that you KNOW won't make you feel any better in the long run, happiness or health-wise? I know I do, I will go on these chocolate sprees where all I want to eat is chocolate, I don’t care what time or where I am, I crave it like no other. I will go to the store and buy the huuuuuuuuge chocolate bars in bulk, and EAT THEM ALL!!!

Maybe it is time to make a list of all of the things that you KNOW make you feel healthy in your mind, body, and soul so that when you have those moments when you need a pick me up, you can turn to your healthy list.:)  Sometimes choosing a challenge (like going for a jog rather than reaching for the tv remote) can result in the best confidence and comfort boost because you are reminded, hey, I AM in control of my life, my emotions, my choices, my health and my happiness.  Seek the greater reward, not the momentary thing that you know will only leave you feeling crappy.

List favorite Quotes

My favorite quotes, gosh there are so many quotes out now I thought I should make a list of the best ones in one place. I know how annoying it is to search through all the websites just to find that perfect quote for the thing you are feeling.

8.      Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” ― Apple Inc.

9.      “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ― H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Things that make me feel like home

I've been thinking of things that make me feel like home because soon I will be traveling everywhere for the holidays. I will be home like maybe one day of our whole break! Also, I have always thought of Iowa City as my home even though I have lived in Cedar Rapids for almost three years. I will always be a little hawk at heart. Iowa City was where I was raised and I learned everything there. Cedar Rapids is so different, it’s like a complete 180 from Iowa City. Thinking about what makes me feel like home is actually pretty difficult

 1. My cat - He is literally the love of my life NO WHERE could be home without him, he is always  there for me. He like has a sense for when I'm sad mad want to be left alone or just want to cuddle with him. He is literally the worlds best cat.

2. My bed- Anytime I travel I can never sleep as well as I can when I'm home, my bed just has a certain smell and comfort that I love. It has that divot in it where is sleep that fits my body just right. I also spent a LOT of money on my bed to make sure it was EXTRA comfortable so anywhere else the beds just suck.

3. My Friends- This may seem weird, but literally most of my friends live with me. They are constantly at my house. My best friend Erin, has brought half of her wardrobe and she keeps her makeup and nail polish at my house. She is there every chance she can be.!!

4. My Family- I'm at that age where I always want to be away but I know I couldn't live without them. My mom is like my best friend, I could talk to her about anything or anyone. She is my life line.

5. My Clothes- I HATE travelling because I don’t have my full wardrobe, I need the selection. Actually when I do travel I end up taking like 5 suitcases so I can literally take ALL my clothes with me.

6. My Neighbors- I miss having the next door neighbor kids to hang out with, there is literally no one my age on my street. Having bad neighbors can really ruin a home for someone, we used to have this really old lady that would constantly call the pound if our dog barked just once, and it really ruined my whole family's home life.

7. The Sense of community- Feeling like you are part of a community really makes it easier to live somewhere.

8. My mom’s terrible cooking- She cannot cook for the life of her, but without her terrible cooking we wouldn’t have our pizza runs or the peanut butter and jelly, or cereal dinners.

9. The sounds my house makes at night- Yes, they may creep me out, but I get used to them, other places night noises are like terrifying to me because they aren’t what I am used to.

10. My dogs- they are really annoying sometimes, but I love them.

11. The smell of my house- enough said.

12. Snow-I hate snow so much, but that is part of Iowa winters.

13. How loud my family is ALL THE TIME- I MEAN ALL THE TIME, there is literally no sleeping in my house, someone is always up making some kind of noise.

14. The feeling of love I get- I know that when I go home there will be people that love me.

15. Comfort- I am always comfortable at home.

http://omgtens.com/top-10-things-to-do-when-youre-bored-at-home/

Do you ever catch yourself just sitting bored, not having ANY clue what to do? I know I do, and we all have our little things that we do to try to unbore ourselves. Sometimes mine in fact make me even more bored.

I usually:

1.      Go on twitter, read the most recent tweets

2.      Go on instagram and scroll till there are no more posts remaining

3.      Text everyone in my contact list “Heyy”

4.      Go on Facebook scroll through

5.      EAT

6.      Play online games

7.      Play on the Xbox

8.      Play on the Wii

9.      Turn on music really loud and sing along

10.  Practice “twerking”

11.  Call my best friend

12.  Drive around

13.  Do hair and makeup

14.  Take selfies

15.  Clean

The stuff I do really make me more bored more often than not, so I asked some people what they think I should do when I’m bored, I came up with a pretty interesting list! Note some of these are extremely crazy and would possibly make you get into some trouble. But it really would make some fun.

1.      Go into an elevator, and sit down and meditate. Ignore all of the people asking you why you are meditating.

2.      When someone in your house goes out, glue your pair of sneakers in the ceiling and when they come back, and sit on the floor while rubbing your head and groaning.

3.      Paint your nails

4.      Put together the ultimate sandwich.

5.      Write a poem about boredom

6.      Challenge yourself to stay motionless for an hour

7.      Prank call people

8.      Bake a cake

9.      Watch a movie

10.   Go outside and YELL at everyone that walks by

11.   Have a water gun fight in Wal-Mart

12.  Bring a cd to Wal-Mart, and put it in one of the stereo’s and BLAST the music (again with Wal-Mart)

13.  Make a bucket list

14.   Sudoku

15.  BLOG!

16.  Cross word puzzles

17.  Try some logic puzzles.

18.  Act like the person sitting next to you is pregnant!!

19.  Stand in your front yard and yell "MERP" at whoever walks by, then act like it was totally normal.

20.  Act like spider man and jump from furniture to furniture but don't touch the ground.

21.  Call someone and when they answer act like they called you.

22.  When in an elevator tap a person on the shoulder and act like it was not you.

23.  Google yourself.

24.  Lick someone’s elbow when they’re not looking and they won't even feel it.

25.  Find a store at the mall with window mannequins, pose next to them and see if anyone notices.
